Data Management
Data Management
Data Management includes Download observations, Recalculate Summaries, Import Data, and Export Data.
Open it from the following places:
- On iPhone and iPad, open the Station tab. Use Download observations in Activity, or tap the database icon to open Weather Station Data.
- On macOS, choose Data > Download observations and Data > Recalculate Summaries. Use File > Import Data… and File > Export Data…, or open the Inspector and choose Data to inspect stored data.
Available actions
| Action | Best for | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Download observations | Data looks stale or periods are missing | Weather Fusion fetches the latest and missing history when the provider supports it |
| Recalculate Summaries | Day, month, or year summaries look out of sync | Weather Fusion rebuilds summary values from stored observations |
| Export Data / Export Data… | A backup or transfer file is needed | Weather Fusion creates a .wfdb package for the current station |
| Import Data / Import Data… | Stored data must be restored or merged | Weather Fusion adds only rows not already stored for the same station |
Download missing history
Weather Fusion downloads automatically as new data becomes available. Manual Download observations is useful when data looks stale or a period is missing.
Rebuild summaries
Use Recalculate Summaries after large imports or backfills when day, month, or year summaries need to catch up with stored observations.
Back up or move data
- Use Export Data on iPhone and iPad, or Export Data… on Mac, to create a
.wfdbbackup of the current station. - Use Import Data on iPhone and iPad, or Import Data… on Mac, to restore or merge from a
.wfdbfile.
Inspect .wfdb package contents on macOS
A .wfdb file is a macOS package. In Finder, Control-click or right-click the file, then choose Show Package Contents to view its contents.
The main data file inside the package is store.sqlite, a SQLite database that stores the station data exported by Weather Fusion.
