Station map
Find saved station locations, public-network stations, and aviation-weather sources available on the station map.
Marker sources
| Source | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Saved stations | Shows visible configured stations that have valid coordinates |
| Netatmo Network | Shows discoverable Netatmo public-network observations |
| Windy Stations | Shows Windy public-station candidates |
| Weather Underground | Shows Weather Underground public-station candidates |
| METAR | Shows current aviation observations; airport markers can be saved with Add Airport |
Marker-source visibility is stored on the current device. Turning a source off hides its markers and preserves configured stations.
Weather Layer
Weather Layer offers Rain Radar and None. Rain Radar is experimental and uses RainViewer imagery, refreshed about every 10 minutes while the map is shown. The map shows a Rain Radar: RainViewer attribution that links to the source. Imagery appears only where RainViewer has coverage.
Full maps animate available frames from the two hours ending at the latest radar frame. The radar caption shows the displayed frame’s time and provides pause and resume controls. Station-discovery messages can temporarily replace it. With Reduce Motion enabled, the latest frame stays static. Station Map cards follow the layer choice but show only the latest composite.
See View weather layers on the map for the procedure.
Map controls
- Search for a place or use the current-location control to move the map.
- Use Station Sources to show or hide My Stations, Netatmo Network, Windy Stations, Weather Underground, and METAR Stations when available.
- Change the marker metric to compare compatible station values. The daily rain metric shows each station’s rain for the day, and rain markers name their window, such as today or the rolling 24 hours.
- Use Weather Layer to show or hide the rain radar.
- Change the base Map Style. On iPhone and iPad, Mapbox offers Standard, Faded, and Satellite; Apple Maps offers Standard, Standard (muted), Satellite, and Hybrid. Settings › Map Style › Use Apple Maps switches the map service. Mac uses Apple Maps. See Settings.
- Select a marker to inspect station identity, location, provider, observation age, and available current values.
Saved station markers can be opened as the active station. Eligible Windy and Weather Underground public markers can be added after their provider credentials are configured. METAR marker details offer Add Airport, or View Conditions for a saved airport. Saved airports use Real Time, Historical, and Observations with available source data. Netatmo Network observations remain discovery data. See Airport (METAR).
On regular-width iPad and macOS, Map is a main app view. On iPhone, open the map from the station picker or a Station Map card when those entry points are available.
A saved station requires valid coordinates before its marker can appear. Updating station coordinates can therefore change map availability while preserving its provider data.
