Connect Airport (METAR)

Connect Airport (METAR)

Use Airport (METAR) to save an airport and view its current observations and available history.

Add an airport

  1. On the Start Screen, choose Airport (METAR). To add another airport on iPhone or iPad, open Settings › Manage Stations › Add Station…. On Mac, choose File › Add Station…. Select Airport (METAR) if a provider picker appears.
  2. Select an airport on the map, or choose Browse Airports.
  3. If using Browse Airports, search by airport, city, country, or ICAO code, then select an airport. Use the sort icon to choose Distance or Name. Distance sorting requires location access; the list falls back to Name when location is unavailable.
  4. Review the selected airport, then choose Add.

Selecting an airport on the map or in the list prepares it for review. Add saves it and makes it the active station.

On iPhone and iPad, Browse Airports opens another page. On Mac, it opens a sheet.

Open a saved airport

Choose the airport from the station picker, then open Real Time, Historical, or Observations. On compact iPhone and iPad layouts, use Real Time Data or Historical Observation Data to inspect individual records. Raw METAR appears in observation details when the source includes the original report text.

To check archive availability, open the airport’s station details and review Provider Details › Historical Reports. If the check fails, choose Try Again. For earlier records, use Download older observations. Archive sources and coverage limits are described in How Weather Fusion gets data.

Inspect airport markers on the station map

  1. Open the station map:
    • On regular-width iPad layouts and Mac, open Map from the main navigation.
    • On iPhone and compact iPad layouts, open the map from the station picker or a Station Map card.
  2. Open Station Sources and turn METAR Stations on.
  3. Move or search the map to the area to inspect.
  4. Select a METAR marker to view the latest report and station details.
  5. Choose Add Airport to save the airport, or View Conditions if it is already saved.

For the other map controls, see the Map reference.
