Real-time, history, and summaries
Real-time data, history, and summaries
Weather Fusion uses related but distinct data layers for current conditions and longer periods.
Real Time
Real Time starts with the latest normalized provider response for the selected station. Compatible Standard measurement cards use stored observations for recent trends and rolling statistics over the preceding 24 elapsed hours. Compact measurement cards show the current reading with a small gauge or other visual indicator. Screen freshness and observation freshness are independent; use the displayed observation time to judge recency.
Stored observations
Historical 24h and Day charts, Real Time detail charts, and the All observations table read individual rows from the station’s local .wfdb database. Provider history downloads add rows to that database according to provider access and rate limits.
Rain
Rain totals, rain rates, and their charts come from one shared calculation over stored observations, so the dashboard, Historical, observation tables, map markers, and widgets agree. Each rain metric keeps its own window: today’s rain, a rolling 24-hour total, or a storm total. Netatmo rain totals report today’s rainfall rather than a rolling 24-hour total, and Weather Underground stations can switch between the two with the 24-hour rain totals setting.
Summaries
Weather Fusion calculates Day, Week, Month, and Year summaries from stored observations. Longer Historical periods and Observations summary tables use these aggregate records instead of repeatedly scanning every raw row.
Because the layers update at different times, a current provider value can appear before its historical row or summary has been completed. Large backfills and backup restores can likewise add observations before every dependent summary is rebuilt.
Use Recalculate Summaries when the underlying observations are present but longer-period totals, ranges, or peaks remain inconsistent. Recalculation rebuilds local summaries from available observations. Missing provider observations require a download or provider recovery.
